Umberto Centofanti's Biography His art career had its public start in 1932 at the age of eight when King Emmaniel III of Italy bestowed upon Umberto a $10,000 recognition award as first prize winner, for his set of pastel drawings depicting life on his parent's farm. What was true of Umberto's enthusiasm of art at age eight is true of him at age 74. Today Umberto expresses imagination and creativity through painting, carving, and woodworking. Recently, Umberto, a resident of Arlington Massachusetts donated one of his paintings to Arlington High School, an oil painting of President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy, and their daughter Caroline. Umberto finished the painting just two weeks before President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. Today, Umberto paints, as he has done since he was eight years old, with passion and has said, " I intend to paint until I die, and if I have it my way, I'd like to die like Norman Rockwell with a brush in my hand." Umberto has sold more than 400 paintings to date. |
